You will most likely need a lot of help with this project. This is where to get it.
Both your textbooks will be your best friends throughout development.
The chapters you'll need to look at are:
MSDN, or Microsoft Developer Network, is an excellent source for all Windows developers. You can take advantage of MSDN in two ways. First, all the computers in the CS department's laboratories have the MSDN Library installed. The easiest way to get information about a function, message, or a declared constant is to position your cursor over the desired item and hit F1. You can also access the MSDN Library through the Help menu in the Visual Studio IDE. Second, MSDN is also available online at http://msdn.microsoft.com/. If you have a specific question or think you found a bug, search for it. It has most likely been answered or addressed already, and you'll find an answer to your question right away.
Want a tutorial on sockets? How about the ASCII codes for all 255 characters? Looking for something that's not in the book or explained poorly? Use Google to search for it!
For an excellent guide on networking with sockets, read Beej's Guide to Network Programming. Everyone should read it.
Feel free to ask any of the CS 351 TAs questions you may have. Come see us during our office hours, all the information is here.
